How does the Rivers End Review Crew work?

7-10 days before a new book is ready for release, I’ll send you an email telling you about the book. If it appeals to you, you can download an eBook version (in whatever format you like) and read it. I use BookFunnel to deliver the books, which means you can put it right onto your e-reader or get it emailed to you, whatever you prefer.

I’ll send you another email on launch day, and then as soon as you can (ideally within 48 hours) you leave an honest review of the story at Goodreads or Amazon (in your country). If you’re not on those platforms that’s okay too. You can email me your review for me to use on my website.

What does 'honest review' mean and why do you keep repeating it?

I don’t want you to only review it if you loved it and want to give it 5 stars. Don’t get me wrong, if you do love it then tally up those stars at will! If you don’t love it, try to be specific about what you had issues with and pick an appropriate number of stars.

Reviews are only valuable when they’re real, so it’s not a terrible thing to have a range of responses from readers.

Do I have to write anything special in the review because I received the book for free?

It’s good form to include the following statement at the end of the review you post: I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

You write a lot of stories. Do I have to read ALL of them?

Hah! No. I hope you’ll want to read all of them, but there is no pressure to review every single release. With each new story you’ll get an email with a bit of info about the story, and the launch date.

If you think the story isn’t for you, or that you won’t have time to read and review it by launch day, then just don’t download the story.

(And just FYI – yes, I can see who downloads the stories. Anyone who is claiming all the freebies and not actually following through will lose their spot, and be removed from the Review Crew.)

How do I give up my seat on the review crew?

That’s easy. Just fire me an email: crystal@cjhuntromance.com and I’ll open up your spot to someone else.
